Teen Therapy in Sundowner, Johannesburg
Mental Health Counselling for Teens in Sundowner, Johannesburg
Could your teen benefit from therapy?
Adolescence is a crucial yet often challenging stage of life. Teens explore their identity, push boundaries, and navigate new social pressures. During this time, they may struggle with emotional, academic, or social difficulties, often lacking the support they need to cope effectively. Additional complexities, such as family dynamics or societal expectations, can make this transition even harder.

As a counselling psychologist, I help teens work through a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, adjustment issues, academic stress, and career concerns. If your teen is feeling overwhelmed, therapy can provide a supportive space to develop resilience and self-understanding.

What is teen therapy?
Teen therapy provides a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space where adolescents can openly express their thoughts, process emotions, and explore solutions to life’s challenges. This stage of life is filled with emotional, social, and academic pressures, often compounded by family expectations and a growing desire for independence.
While parents naturally want to support their teens, adolescence is a time when many young people seek to define themselves outside of their family unit. Therapy offers a space where teens can discuss difficult topics that may feel off-limits at home, helping them build confidence, resilience, and self-awareness.

As a licensed psychologist, I use evidence-based techniques and personalised approaches to support each teen’s unique needs. I work with adolescents aged 15 years and older, addressing concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, adjustment difficulties, academic stress, and career uncertainties.

Confidentiality & Trust
For therapy to be effective, it’s essential that teens feel their sessions are private and secure. While I may collaborate with parents when necessary, I maintain confidentiality to foster trust, except in cases where a teen is at risk of harm to themselves or others. This ensures therapy remains a safe and supportive space for meaningful growth and self-discovery.

A Personalised Approach to Healing
The therapy I offer is designed to help teens gain deeper self-understanding and create lasting, positive change. While some sessions are guided by the teen’s concerns and experiences, others involve structured techniques to develop insight, awareness, and emotional resilience. Every person is unique, and I tailor therapy to fit each teen’s needs. I believe that true healing and personal growth emerge through the trusting relationship between therapist and client.
